Frustration In Homestead Miami
In a field of 48 drivers wanting to make the last race of the season, Jeremy was 3rd quickest in 1st practice (opted out on 2nd practice) put himself in a 15th place qualifying position and sat on pit road in the middle of million dollar teams waiting to hear those famous words “Gentlemen, start your engines” to race the last race of the season and go out with even a better finish than his 10th place finish at Gateway in October. That dream was short lived, as fighting a loose race car almost from the start of the race, Jeremy spun out on lap 12 putting himself in the grass with minor damage. Back out on the track almost immediately, fighting his way up from 31st position to take over 25th place, once again, got loose and hit the outside wall causing irrepairable damage to the back of his car. Anyone who knows Jeremy Clements, knows that he is known to be a cautious competetitor, bringing his race car home in one piece every race. Agressive, was the word to describe Jeremy on Saturday, but the thought of the last race, putting in a good finish, and keeping his loose car under control was out of reach for the Spartanburg native after the last spin out.
” I was on the edge and it bit me” says the 25 year old. Extremely disappointed, the team packed up and headed home ending the race on a very low note…
The season all in all was a very productive one, with 16 starts, 4 top 20’s and the very deserved 10th place finish in Gateway in October. Jeremy also ended up 34th in drivers points for this season, a 16th place jump from last season.
The team settles in Spartanburg for some down time, preparing the “new car” for the Daytona race
