Jeremy Clements Seriously Injured
Team Press Release, July 26, 2004SPARTANBURG, SC (July 26, 2004) – Nineteen year-old rising racing star, Jeremy Clements, was seriously injured while racing his #51 dirt late model at 311 Speedway in Madison, NC, on July 24th. Jeremy, who uses his dirt racing to gain experience for his ARCA RE/MAX competitions and potential future in NASCAR, is already an experienced competitor at his young age.
Clements was competing in the super late model division when his car gradually came to a stop between turns one and two of the 1/2-mile, high-banked oval and radioed for help. Soon everyone would learn that the torque arm broke and the drive shaft pierced the cockpit and struck Jeremy in the hand. He sustained a serious hand injury and blacked out due to blood loss. Jeremy was transported by ambulance from the track to Wake Forest University’s Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, where he underwent a nine-hour orthopedic operation.
At this time, Jeremy is one the road to a long recovery and faces additional surgery but he’s in the care of many of the nation’s best physicians and surgeons. We are confident that time and faith will heal all. Please keep Jeremy and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
